HEALTHCARE / piedmont women's center

The goal of the Piedmont Women's Center is to create an obstetrical labor and delivery unit that provides a welcoming and relaxing birth experience for all expectant mothers while delivering the highest level of care to both mother and infant. A labor-delivery-postpartum model has been used throughout the unit as this system of care has been shown to increase both patient satisfaction and outcomes. Additionally, the main emphasis of the patient room design is on providing flexibility and comfort for the duration of the birth experience in order to accommodate diverse birthing plans and strategies.
This unit also makes the comfort of the mother’s family members and support team an utmost priority by providing ample accommodations for the duration of their stay as familial support is integral to positive patient outcomes. Creating a positive environment for all staff was also emphasized during the design of this unit through standardization and by providing easy accessibility to resources, support areas, and daylight. By creating a highly functional environment for staff, the goals of this facility’s best-care practices can be met, thus ensuring that patients and their families receive the highest levels of care
